Hi, I'm Mike!

I grew up in the small town of Gilroy, raised by two hard-working, middle-class parents.

My mom was a strong, loving woman who did everything she could to keep me on the right path, and my dad, despite being a good man, struggled with alcoholism and addiction that brought dysfunction into our home.

I don’t blame my upbringing for the choices I made later in life.

My mom did her best. But as a young man, I gravitated toward the wrong crowd, chasing excitement and anything that numbed what I didn’t know how to deal with.

Before long, I was deep into drugs, selling drugs, and fully addicted to the street life.

That path led to multiple arrests, jail time, and eventually prison.

For years, I lived in a cycle of self-sabotage, destruction, and running from the man I knew I was meant to be.

But in my mid-20s, something inside me broke—and something new woke up. I was tired of destroying myself. Tired of hurting my family. Tired of wasting my potential. I made the decision to get off drugs, and stop living the self-destructive lifestyle, and build a different future. I met my wife, got a solid career, and we bought our first home. I was evolving… but still lacked true direction. Fitness was the one thing that kept me grounded, the one thing that made me feel in control, but I didn’t yet have the structure, discipline, or purpose I needed to fully transform.

Everything changed in 2024. I had twin babies, a three-year-old daughter, and a wife battling breast cancer. Life hit hard and without warning. That storm opened my eyes. I realized that as men—fathers, leaders, providers—we don’t have the luxury of being weak or unprepared. Our families depend on us. I looked in the mirror and made a vow to God, to myself, and to my family: I was going to become the absolute best version of myself. No more drinking. No more bad habits. No more “one foot in, one foot out.” I dove into fitness, strengthened my faith, rebuilt my habits, and committed to a lifestyle of discipline, structure, and self-development. That commitment changed everything.

Mike tells his story of a life of addiction and how he completely transformed, mind, body, and spirit.

Today, I’m Coach Mike—founder of GrindTime Fit, a coaching program built for men who know they’re capable of more. Men who work long hours, support their families, and still feel that hunger to level up. Men who want to get shredded, gain muscle, build confidence, improve mentally and spiritually, and become the strongest, most reliable version of themselves. I coach because I know what it feels like to be lost, stuck, overwhelmed, inconsistent, and unsure of where to start. And I also know what it feels like to rise out of it. Fitness helped me save my life. Structure rebuilt me. Faith strengthened me. Discipline transformed me. Now I help other men do the same.
